Importance of Frames

This is obviously the same painting from Friday's post. I had it in a gold leaf plein air frame and I like this frame, but I think the black frame helps the painting more, adds more drama. I'm not crazy about the wide gold band along the inside - wish it was narrower. Maybe I need a complete black frame with no gold. What do you think?

Hi Chris- Couldn't agree with you more. The top one is better. Dick Blick has a plein air frame, black with a smaller gold 'liner' that I've used before and I think they're on sale now, and I want to say the name of the frame is Simplon or something similar...
Nice painting!

I think the dark frame looks better with this one too, and you are right, a frame with a thinner gold band would work better.
